BEARING HOUSINGS

Rigid cast bearing locations minimize gearbox deflection helping to improve bearing and gear life.

GEARBOX HOUSING

Single-piece gearbox casting can accommodate double or triple reduction ratios without changing size. The split line of the gearbox is at the top, well above the oil level, this helps prevent oil leakage.

HIGH STRENGTH SHAFT COUPLING

Our high-strength shaft coupling can accommodate very high bending moments, making the Compact Series very strong for its size.

TRUE DRY WELL

The True Dry Well is cast into the gearbox housing, removing lower shaft bearing shields, labyrinths, and lips seals that can perish or wear; this effectively eliminates the risk of oil leakage down the mixer shaft into customers’ products.

DIRECT MOUNTING

Cast into the gearbox housing are feet for direct mounting to beams or other superstructure.

INTEGRAL MOTOR PEDESTAL

Suits IEC or NEMA Frame Flange motors. Has protective moisture trap to guard against moisture ingress. High strength and low deflection as it is cast with the gearbox top cover plate.

FLEX PROTECTION

Gears in all 800 series units like this one are protected from mixer shaft bending loads by the Lightnin hollow quill flex protection. The quill and shaft mixer are mounted on separate bearings. A torsionally resilient coupling transmits power from the quill to the mixer shaft, while isolating gearing from shaft flex.

SPLASH LUBRIFICATION

On sizes up to 783/883, gears dipping in an oil sump provide a constant flow of oil to all surfaces.

COVERED FOR SAFETY

Personnel are protected from rotating parts by guards that meet OSHA requirements. All mounting flanges are designed to ASME Unfired Pressure Vessel Code.

RUGGED MOTOR MOUNT

A heavy-duty channel base is the standard motor mount for Series 700/800.

OIL DAM

Leakage down the mixer shaft is positively prevented by an oil dam around the quill shaft.

QUIET-RUNNING GEARS

All helical gears are carburized and ground. The highly efficient spiral bevel gear and pinion are match-lapped as a set to assure smooth, quiet operation.

Lightnin Series 80 mixers cover the range from 1 kW – to 150 kW (1-200 hp). They are available in both double and triple-reduction gearing and come in a full range of standard AGMA speeds from 280 down to 16.5 rpm.

Series 80 mixers offer a full choice of impellers to optimize your process results. Included are the high-flow A310/A510, as well as other high-performance and more traditional impellers, so we can match shear and flow to your process requirements exactly.
